Under the leadership of the camp director Inna Siryk and tutors Edward Kupinsky and Antonina Pishunova, the children of parishioners from Lisbon, Cascais and Porto are having their holidays at the present time in the country, in a remote plains district of the Alentejo province in the south Portugal.

The Liturgy was celebrated by the rector of All Saints parish in Lisbon Igumen Arseny. At the Liturgy the children read the Apostle, and sang and helped in the altar. The whole camp including the director, the tutors, the teacher of the Russian language Viktoria Mohova and 16 children took Holy Communion. Archpriest John, Rector of St. Xenia of St. Petersburg Church in Faro, prayed at the Liturgy as well.

After the Liturgy, there was a meal that consisted of vegetable soup and fresh-caught pilchard, baked on coals.

This is the first experience of organization of an Orthodox children’s camp in Portugal. If the camp proves to be successful, then other shifts will be arranged.
