زيارة الأرشمندريت جيريمي دايفس لمركز طرابلس

بعد ظهر الأربعاء في ٢٧ أيلول ٢٠٢٣، استقبل مركز طرابلس لحركة الشبيبة الأرثوذكسيّة الارشمندريت جيريمي دايفس (من أبرشيّة امريكا الشمالية) وذلك في سياق زيارته الى لبنان.

الفقرة الأولى من الزيارة كانت في الميناء حيث زار قدس الارشمندريت بيت الحركة، برفقة رئيس المركز الأخ نقولا ابو شاهين والأخت منال سابا خوري، وكان في استقباله الأمين العام السابق الأخ رينيه أنطون ورئيس الفرع الأخ حنا معماري ومسؤولة العمل الاجتماعي في الأمانة العامة الأخت دوريس بندلي.

وبعد زيارة كاتدرائية القدّيس جاورجيوس، والمغارة الملاصقة لها، انعقد اجتماعٌ ضمَّ الحاضرين عُرضِت فيه بعض وجوه عمل الحركة على أصعدة التربية والوحدة والعمل الاجتماعي، اضافة الى بعضٍ من رؤيتها وتأثيرها في الشباب. وفي نهاية الاجتماع قدمّ الارشمندريت للأخ رينيه نسخةً من أحد مؤلّفاته.

بعدها انعقد لقاءٌ في قاعة كنيسة تجلي الربّ في شكّا شارك فيه عدد من الآباء الكهنة ورؤساء المركز السابقون وأعضاء مجلس المركز.
استُهلّ اللّقاء بتعريفٍ للأخ نقولا بو شاهين عن الأرشمندريت الّذي خصّ الحضور بحديث تطرّق فيه إلى خبراته الشّخصيّة المسيحيّة وكيفيّة انتقاله من الكنيسة البروتستانتية إلى الكنيسة الأرثوذكسيّة إضافةً إلى نظرته للروحانيّة الأرثوذكسيّة وأبرز ما يميّزها، كما تطّرق في حديثه إلى العدد الكبير من المهتدين إلى الكنيسة الأنطاكيّة الأرثوذكسيّة لا سيما الشباب منهم، وبعدها أجاب على عدد من أسئلة الحاضرين…

ختامًا قدّم له الأخ رئيس المركز، باسم الإخوة، أيقونة السيّد كهديّة تذكاريّة وعربون شكر لوجوده، واختتم اللقاء بمائدة محبّة.

Archimandrite Jeremy Davis visit to the Orthodox Youth Movement, Tripoli Center

On Wednesday afternoon, September 27, 2023, the Tripoli Center of the Orthodox Youth Movement welcomed Archimandrite Jeremy Davis (from the Diocese of North America) in the context of his visit to Lebanon.

The first part of the visit was in Mina, where Archimandrite Jeremy stopped by the Orthodox Youth Movement’s home, accompanied by the Head of the OYM Tripoli Center, Nicholas Bou Shaheen, and Sister Manal Saba Khoury. He was received by the former OYM Secretary General, Rene Antoun, the Head of Mina branch, Brother Hanna Mamari, and Sister Doris Bendaly, delegate of social work at the General Secretariat.

After visiting St. George’s Cathedral and the cave adjacent to it, the attendees held a meeting where some aspects of the movement’s work were presented at the levels of education, unity, and social work, in addition to some of its vision and influence on youth. At the end of the meeting, the Archimandrite offered Brother Rene a copy of one of his books.

Afterwards, Archemandrite Jeremy joined another meeting held in the hall of the church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Chekka, where a number of clergy, former heads of the center, and members of the center’s council participated. Brother Nicolas Bou Shaheen started the meeting by introducing the Archimandrite. Then, the latter gave a testimony to the audience on his personal Christian experiences and how he converted from the Protestant Church to the Orthodox Church, in addition to his perspective on Orthodox spirituality and its most prominent features. He also tackled issue of the large number of converts to the Antiochian Orthodox Church, especially young people.
Subsequently, he answered a number of questions from the audience…

At the end of the meeting, the head of the center, Brother Nicholas on behalf of the brethren, offered Archimandrite Jeremy an icon of the Lord as a souvenir and a token of thankfulness and gratitude for his presence.

Eventually, the meeting ended with an agape where all the attendees expressed their joy in meeting Archimandrite Jeremy Davis.
